Welcome! I thought with a new school year, it would also be nice to try out a new family blog. Here goes....
Today was the first day of school and it went off just peachy. To my intense surprise, and thanks to Robb, everyone made it to school on time.
We all got up around 7 a.m., Robb made huckleberry pancakes and eggs, and the girls got ready for the day. Talia had her outfit all picked out weeks in advance. Aubrey wanted to make a statement in her oh-so-fashionable pineapple capris.
Since the district is no longer busing students who live within a five-mile radius of the school, we all walked together. (Thank you, again stupid gas prices.) We brought Jackie along for company, and Nina, Aubrey's best friend from across the street, walked to school with us. They were all smiles when we dropped them off at the door to her class, but Mom and Emi had a hard time leaving. We cried together a little bit. It can be so hard to watch your daughters grow up so fast.
Later, we picked Aubrey up and you should have seen her grin. It could have lit up the Vegas strip for a week. So far, she seems to like school. But, she did get into a little bit of trouble when a few of her friends weren't ready to come in from recess at the whistle. She says she loves making friends, and recess. She says she didn't like being lonely, and she was sad when we left. She says she likes her new teacher, Mrs. Bell. "Duh, mom," she said. "Please."
Robb made her coconut cookies to welcome her home, which really cheered her up. She already has homework. Ugh.
Talia had a great day. She has several friends with her in Mrs. Balgini's class. She says her teacher is strict, but she likes her.
I still can't believe the summer is over. I hope you are all having fun in your various back-to-school adventures! Love ya!
